Hi there everybody! I can't believe it's already July- the summer is slipping away. But we still have more left, so at least we can celebrate that! I haven't had a very successful blogging summer so far, but I'm determined to turn that around this month and carrying into August. Here are some of the things you'll be seeing for sure this month...
This month is going to be a busy one for me outside of blogging, so I'll be working extra hard to get you your posts. By the way, I would really appreciate it if you would comment if you have any questions or just want to share your opinion about my post! I'm sad being all alone in the comments. On a happier note, I hope all of you have a great Fourth of July, if that's applicable to you. Enjoy fireworks, family, friends, maybe a parade or barbecue! Don't forget that I'll be keeping track of all the books I've read in my "reading count" tab up at the top of my blog! One of the items on my summer bucket list was to read 50-100 books and at this rate it's very likely I may be able to achieve somewhere in the middle of that range- wish me luck! Speaking of that, my reading for June actually went much better than I expected! I read 22 books (keep in mind that I'm on a summer break, so I have much more time to read). A lot of this month's reading was series that I love and have already read lots of times, such as The Land of Stories, Mysterious Benedict Society, and Heroes of Olympus. I did read some new books, too, which always is great! I hope you're having a great summer, and feel free to chat with me in the comments!

Hello everybody! I hope you're having a very happy summer day, as I am, and I want to direct your attention to the fact that I had my SECOND BLOG BIRTHDAY just a few days ago, so be sure to check out that post. I would love for you to comment, comment, comment and help me reach my goal of getting over 20 comments! Anyway, today we will be doing another Ode! I haven't done one of these since March, so we are way overdue. Today's song is WORLD CHANGERS, by Matthew West. I always like to include a video here on my odes, so you can listen to the song as you read the post! It's more meaningful that way to me, so here it is. I really love this video, because the lyrics are displayed in a very cool way. :-) This song is technically Christian music- Matthew West is a Christian artist, but the message is for everyone. So if you're not Christian, it doesn't mean you can't enjoy this song just as much as everyone else!! In the face of fear, you're fearless These lyrics are so true! Maybe you won't be a pop star or a YouTube sensation or have your blog known around the world. But it's okay. By doing a little thing, a tiny thing, anything, you have changed the world. Even when we're not here anymore, your mark will remain. And not because you were well-known. This is to all, the world changers "This world's never gonna change you" is something everyone in our generation needs to hear. Don't follow the crowd, don't do what the world is doing just because it's easy. Be the history maker, the world changer, that does their thing, and does it right. You give it all, Like I said, don't go the easy way. Go the way that will be make you a world changer! When I see these lyrics I picture like Katniss or Ponyboy (from The Outsiders) getting knocked into a dusty ground, then standing up and living to fight one more time. Too bad we all aren't like Katniss and Ponyboy. But the world knows a hero when it sees one... Are you a hero? Are you someone who changes the world instead of getting changed by it? I hope you enjoyed my little analysis-rant about this song! Have you heard it before today, or was this your first time? What do you think about it? (I think everyone has a world changer hidden inside of them.) See you in the comments! -Olivia
Hello everyone! As you may know, there was a little bit of a mishap with this post. I accidentally posted it on the day I finished it, instead of scheduling it, and that made me FREAK OUT when it wasn't there on June 12th, the actual second birthday! But that just makes me happier to tell you that today we are celebrating WRITER'S DIGEST'S SECOND BIRTHDAY!!!!! I have an amazingly amazing post for you filled with fun and cool stuff, so let's get to it! THE STORY I honestly can't believe it's been TWO YEARS since I started Writer's Digest. Two-years-younger-me had begged and begged for a blog. She wished upon stars and read other blogs, imagining what it would be like to have her own. And then her parents finally said yes, and she started Writer's Digest! I can't believe how much my blog has progressed! The difference in my posts is huge (at least to me), the design has gotten better, the content, the quality, all of it. It's hard to believe it's been two years, but the time difference really shows in the overall standard of my blog. My blog used to be something I would only do occasionally, just on the odd weekend where I was free, but now it's something I want to do and spend a lot of time perfecting. That's how you can tell I really started to love it. THE STATS Like in my 1st Blog Birthday post, we're going to display some stats of my blog. I'm happy to say that they have improved greatly since last year. :-) MOST POSTS EVER- March 2016 and December 2015 are tied with 8 POSTS! LEAST POSTS EVER- May 2015 with 0 POSTS, but at least I warned you that I wouldn't be posting that month. The least for the 2nd year is May 2016, with 2 POSTS. MOST COMMENTS ON A POST- My first ever post holds the record, with 20 comments. I tried to break it on last year's 1st Birthday Post, but only got 14. CAN WE DO IT THIS YEAR?!?! Comment if you would like to help me try. :-) MOST EXCITING THING TO HAPPEN TO ME- I won an ARC of Heather Vogel Frederick's Mother Daughter Book Camp. I was absolutely truly over the moon and thrilled that something like that could happen to someone like little ole me. It's out now, and by the way, is amazing!! AUTHORS MET THIS YEAR- I met Lindsey Cummings and P.J. Hoover, both of which were very kind and autographed their books for me. You can read the post I wrote about that experience byclicking here. All in all, the blogging year and bookish-person-year was very successful for me. Squeee! Next up, we have HAPPY THOUGHTS #18-20 #18: My church. #19: My friend is saving up for a ukulele, and I'm happy for her because she's been really wanting one and she's already really good. #20: SUMMER VACATION IS STRETCHING OUT AHEAD OF ME IN THE MOST GLORIOUS MANNER POSSIBLE! Next we have a part of this post that I've been looking forward to...a lot. :-) I'm going to be reacting to my first ever post! This is very exciting for me, because I can't wait to ridicule myself! All of my thoughts that I'm adding on right now will be in bold, like I just modeled. Let's begin! (I just copied and pasted the entire post into this one.) ________________ Happy Summer!Olivia, you don't capitalize summer. Get with the program. Get ready for the hot sun, evenings spent at the pool, and popsicles galore(what??). Ahhhh... Welcome to the Writer's Digest, a blog written especially for you: aspiring authors and ravenous readers! when you try so hardTo start off, how about some book recommendations to stick your sunscreened noses into this summer? I thought I was so cool, saying "sunscreened noses." News flash: people don't wear sunscreen inside. Which is where you read. Feel free to add more in the comments. Olivia's June Top Ten 1.) The Candymakers by: Wendy Mass This will appeal to you if you're a fan of realistic fiction that has the power to transport you to the setting of the book. Wendy Mass does an outstanding job of creating visuals with descriptions! the book is just fabulous! there we go! 2.) The Lightning Thief by: Rick Riordan Modern mythology at its best (ooh, that was nice), this book is witty (aka funny) and will have you at the edge of your seat! This is a must-read!!as are all of these...duh. 3.) Escape Under the Forever Sky by: Eve Yohalem A former Texas Bluebonnet book (2012-2013) this adventurous realistic fiction novel paints a perfect portrait of Lucy Hoffman and her amazing yet terrifying experiences.there is not near enough information in this miniature review for someone to actually want to read it. I am very sorry for my inept self. 4.) The Mysterious Benedict Society by: Trenton Lee Stewart "Like the Potter books, his story goes beyond mere adventures, delving into serious issues." -Booklist.This is certainly true! Amazing beyond words, I encourage you to branch out to the rest of the series, too. yas! love it still! 5.) Welcome to Camden Falls by: Ann M. Martin Just the beginning to the incredible Main Street series, Welcome to Camden Falls will definitely be delicious for your reading taste buds!uh heheheh...heh...no. This book is highly recommended.by me, your glorious bookworm! 6.) Warriors by: Erin Hunter There are many different series, but I would start with the first series, about Rusty, the curious kitty who may change ThunderClan forever...read more to find out! this also has no information. IT'S ABOUT CATS. IT'S GOOD. THUNDERCLAN IS LIKE A HOUSE IN HARRY POTTER. (sort of) 7.) Allie Finkle's Rules for Girls: Moving Day by: Meg Cabot A nine-year-old girl, Allie Finkle has just the same experiences as any other girl in the real world: friendship problems, moving to a new school and wanting a local restaurant to free the turtle they keep in the lobby. This is an excellent realistic fiction read! this one is actually ok. bravo Olivia! 8.) My Last Best Friend by: Julie Bowe Ida May is upset when her best friend moves and seems to forget about her. What will she do? I recommend this for girls looking for a short but sweet book. I found this under a couch and then read the whole thing in one day. it's amazing and the rest of the series is great too, who knows why I didn't say that when I first wrote this. 9.) The Year of the Dog by: Grace Lin I can never get enough of this book! It's one of those books that you feel like you can read over and over again without getting sick of it. still is. You'll have a great time diving into The Year of the Dog. except don't dive, because it may cause paper cuts. 10.) Every Soul a Star by: Wendy Mass A bittersweet how? oh yeah... yet incredible story, three people who never would have spoken to each other come together because of a solar eclipse. Read it to find out what happens!this is so helpful. OF COURSE YOU READ IT TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS! I hope you enjoy those books! Check back soon for another post. :) ________________ And that's my first post ever. Pretty sad, right? A few of the descriptions were good, but others had me shaking my head in shame. I hope you enjoyed that annotated copy of it, though. :-) As promised, I'll be share some of my writing! I have done that before, and you can click here to read it. :-) All you readers were really nice about it so I'm going to do it again! Warning: I realized *after* promising to do this that I would actually have to write a story. So I'm using one I wrote last October, so it's been a while! Still, enjoy.
I want to see your writing, of course! The prompt for you guys is sort of like in my story. Write a story that ties in characters from your favorite books! It can be a diary entry. A single chapter. A novel. A short story. Anything! Just have fun with it, and share it in the comments. Wow, this post was long! But I loved celebrating my 2nd blog birthday with you all! Be sure to comment so I can reach my goal of getting OVER 20 comments! Also, what are your happy thoughts? Don't forget to share your story, too! I'll see you all there.
-Olivia I'M SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!!! IT TURNS OUT THE POST I WORKED REALLY HARD ON DID NOT DELETE, IT JUST PUBLISHED ON THE WRONG DAY!!!!! THAT MEANS YOU CAN STILL ENJOY ITS GLORY! If you want to check out the post then go right ahead and click here. But I'll be reposting it on JUNE 20TH!!! SO TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND I'LL SEE YOU THERE!! -Olivia
Hello everyone! I have really, really bad news. So I made a great post for Writer's Digest's SECOND BIRTHDAY, which was yesterday. Last night, I realized I forget to upload it, so I did it from my mobile Weebly app. It said the post published, and if I visit my blog on my phone it's there, but it doesn't show up anywhere else. This is really stressing me out because I sent FOREVER on that post and now I don't know if anyone will ever see it or what. (Basically I'm trying to be calm but inside I'm freaking out.) It would be super helpful for you to comment saying if you could see the post or not!!! THANK YOU! I don't know if I'll be able to redo it (if it's lost), but either way, this is really sad for me. Maybe it'll just randomly show up? Let's hope for the best. -Olivia
