Title: Bliss
Author: Kathryn Littlewood
Excerpt From Inside Cover:
Rosemary Bliss's family has a secret. It's the Bliss Cookery Booke- an ancient, leather-bound volume of enchanted recipes like Stone Sleep Snickerdoodles and Singing Gingersnaps. Rose and her siblings are supposed to keep the Cookery Booke under lock and whisk-shaped key while their parents are out of town, but then a mysterious stranger shows up. "Aunt" Lily rides a motorcycle, wears purple sequins, and whips up exotic (but delicious) dishes for dinner. Soon boring, nonmagical feel like life before Aunt Lily- a lot less fun. So Rose and her siblings experiment with just a couple of recipes from the forbidden Cookery Booke. A few Love Muffins and a few Cookies of Truth couldn't cause too much trouble...could they?
My Review:
Yes. Yes. YES!! A MAGICAL BAKERY!! How could I not resist...? This book had me feeling so many feels. Firstly, the names were top-notch awesome. Bliss is the perfect last name, plus Rose and all her siblings are named after spices. Not that I would want MY name to be Thyme, but it fits Ty. The the plot. THE PLOT! The plot that twisted and turned and curved and snaked and sneaked and had you guessing AND GUESSING AND GUESSING! It was pretty amazing. I do, in the midst of all its awesomeness, have to talk about the one that that totally threw me for a loop in this book. Rose's parents, Albert and Purdy, are super nice and caring people. So WHY did they leave their children in the care of a woman who all the kids obviously dislike? Secondly, Lily. If a random lady you've never seen before pulls into your driveway on a motorcycle, shows you a birthmark, and says, "I'm your aunt!" YOU DON'T believe her. Or let her into your house while your parents aren't home! During that whole ordeal, I wanted to scream at Rose. I almost did scream at the book, but you know. That'd be kinda weird. But this book was too awesome to be judged by that little part I disagreed with, so I'm going to definitely give this book a big 'ole FIVE STARS!
See you all real soon!
