(Okay, I just made that up. But really~ who doesn't die of boredom while on the road??)
My family travels a lot, and we drive when we do. For example, we drive to Alabama every summer. And my grandmother lives in Louisiana, and we drive there, too. Once we even drove to Tennessee! These are common phrases you'll hear while on the road:
- "I'm bored."
- "I have to go to the bathroom."
- "Can I use the laptop to watch a movie now?"
- "When are we taking a break?"
- "No, I really have to go to bathroom."
- "Oh no, I just finished my last book! Now I have nothing to read!"
- "Can we listen to 1989 one more time?"
The list goes on. Nothing fun really happens in the car. And that's why I'm doing this post: to give you fun (I hope!) suggestions for what to do while you're bored! My friend Anna actually asked me to do this post, because she's about to go on a car trip. So....let's begin!
First of all, you need books. Lots of them. Books are a bare necessity of life! A bag full of them are crucial for your trip. (Anna, you can borrow some from me, okay?) Sometimes I even fill up a whole backpack with them. DON'T FORGET BOOKS!!!!
Next, your device. Okay, I know this isn't very scholarly sounding, but devices are needed for survival! (Sort of.) I have an iPad, and it doesn't have Internet connection while it's not at my house, but I have enough games that don't need a connection to survive. (My favorite ones are Temple Run, Crossy Road, Stick Hero, and Bookworm.)
MUSIC. Music is another bare necessity! Rhapsody in Blue, 1989, Red, Speak Now, Thriller and other songs will make the time pass. A game I play is I try to see if I know all the lyrics by trying to sing them in my head a split second before the singer sings them. It sounds really stupid but it's actually fun. ;)
A journal and a writing utensil. Need more be said??
Now, that's what to pack. Anna asked me for story ideas...but I'm going blank. If you have any, please put them in the comments!!
Meanwhile, I turned to Google... but I couldn't find much there either. (I know, right? It's Google! They have everything!!) Therefore, I need your help!
What are story ideas that you have? By the way, I mean story ideas like "a girl gets adopted," not like a deep thought-out plot. :)
Thanks for reading, and I hope this helps, Anna!
Until next time...(possibly in a few days?)
