But really, when we do that, aren't we missing the point of Thanksgiving? The other day, I was in the cool store with my mom and my friend. It has all these vintage things and a lot of different booths. They were all decorated for Christmas, and holiday music was playing, and I said, "I just we could just skip over Thanksgiving!"
In that moment, that's what I thought. But looking back, I guess that's not really true. Thanksgiving is a time to reflect over all the blessings we've gotten from God, and to have time with family and friends, and to eat good food. Even though sometimes it may feel like the 1/2 mile marker- Halloween to your left and Christmas to your right!- it really is an amazing holiday.
Therefore, it deserves some recognition on my blog! Today I'm going to be sharing a list of things I'm thankful for, and invite you to do the same in the comments! Then I'll do a post later (probably in December) about your responses. Here goes....
What I'm Thankful For:
My family
My friends
My dog
My faith and church
MUSIC
My awesome dance studio
Food on the table for Thanksgiving
Food on the table everyday
The opportunity to go to school
Books
Paper and a pencil
The computer that lets me write blog posts
Nature
You, if you're reading this
All those things that I take for granted, like having shoes and clothes and birthday presents and Christmas presents
The list is honestly, if I thought about it for long enough, endless! But those are just the things I came up with off the top of my head. Now, for a more fun list...what I have at Thanksgiving dinner!
- Turkey
- Ham
- Rolls
- Cranberry Sauce
- Spinach Madeleine
- Cheese Dish
- Pumpkin Pie
- Ice Cream
- Pecans
- Gravy
- Dressing
- Okay, fine. I don't really eat all this stuff because I'm really picky, but that's what is ON the table, anyway... :-)
I hope you and your family have a blessed Thanksgiving! Don't forget to share your list of the things you're thankful for in the comments, if you want. :-) Feel free to do what you eat (or what your family eats, if you're a Picky Peggy like me) as well! GOBBLE GOBBLE!
Until next time!
